Colour That Lasts

SubAlu produces dye sublimation aluminium photo panels with strong colour, clean detail and a durable surface suited to display environments.

Finish Options

Choose gloss or matte surfaces, as well as white or brushed aluminium bases, to suit photographic, artistic or branded applications.

Prepared Properly

Image files are checked for orientation, crop and practical resolution so the final panel suits its intended viewing distance and size.

Ready To Hang

SubAlu supplies practical hanging hardware options and mounting support for wall display, exhibition use and office installation.

Panels that carry the picture, not the fuss

We supply sublimation aluminium photo panels made by transferring dye into a coated aluminium surface under heat and pressure. That process gives a crisp finish with strong colour depth, fine detail and a clean presentation that suits homes, galleries, retail spaces and office walls. The panels are light enough to hang neatly, yet feel substantial once installed.

Choose from gloss, matte, white or brushed finishes depending on the look you need. Gloss lifts contrast and colour for bold imagery, matte reduces reflections in bright rooms, white gives a clean neutral base for full colour work, and brushed aluminium leaves portions of the metal texture visible for a more industrial look. We can also advise on crop planning, finish selection and mount type when your image needs a specific treatment.

  • Made for photographic prints, art reproductions and branded display work
  • Available in custom sizes for single panels or multi panel layouts
  • Suited to indoor environments where a tidy, long wearing display is needed

What reaches us from photographers, artists and firms

Our clients range from photographers and artists to offices, hospitality spaces, schools and property teams across Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria and Gqeberha. Some need a single feature piece for a reception wall, others need a full set of prints for a boardroom or show stand. We also work with businesses that want uniform branded visuals for branches, training rooms or customer areas.

All files are reviewed before production so that the finished panel suits the image and the intended viewing distance. If the file is too small for the requested size, we will flag it early and explain the options. Customers must own the images they send, or have the right to use them, and that applies to personal portraits, commercial work and supplied artwork alike. Established in 1990, our team has handled a wide mix of print jobs and knows how to prepare work properly for real spaces, not just screens.

How the job moves from file to wall

Every order starts with file checks and resolution review. We look at the image size, crop, colour balance and the chosen panel finish before anything goes to print. If needed, we help with colour preparation and crop planning so faces, horizons and key details land in the right place once the panel is trimmed and mounted.

Test panels can be arranged for jobs where colour matching is important or where the final wall space has specific lighting. This is useful in offices with mixed daylight and strip lighting, or coastal homes where reflections can change through the day. After printing and curing, the panel moves to finishing and mounting. Hanging hardware is selected generically according to the panel size and installation method, and can include wall standoff mounts, framed backing systems or other fixed hanging options where suitable.

Where the panels travel in South Africa

We produce and dispatch from Randburg, with delivery routes arranged for Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sandton and Midrand, as well as Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha. Local clients in and around Randburg can also collect or arrange orders through our Johannesburg base. For larger runs, we coordinate packing so the panels travel safely and arrive ready for install.

South African conditions matter. In Gauteng, winter dryness and summer dust can affect handling and storage, while coastal humidity in Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha means packaging and wall prep need a bit more care.If a job is going into a shopfront, office park or managed property, we help you think through the mounting and placement before production starts.

Details that change the final result

The work stands out because the detail is handled carefully, from image preparation through to packing. SubAlu offers custom sizing, multi panel layouts, matched reprints and care guidance so later runs stay consistent. If you need a replacement for an existing panel, we can compare the new file to the original treatment and keep the output aligned as closely as possible.

We also look at how the image will live on the wall. A glossy surface behaves differently in a bright meeting room to a matte finish in a softly lit hallway. Brushed aluminium can suit industrial interiors or monochrome imagery, while white panels keep skin tones and brand colours more even. If the image needs to move across several panels, we plan the joins so the layout reads cleanly from a normal viewing distance. Nicole Adams handles logistics and dispatch, so packing and delivery are not left as an afterthought.

The team behind the print room

SubAlu is led by Mandla Chetty, with Lerato Ntsele overseeing production, Johan Mafokeng handling colour and prepress, Ayesha Moagi coordinating client service, Sibusiso Salie managing finishing and mounting, and Nicole Adams looking after dispatch. That mix matters because aluminium printing is not only about the image, it is also about prep, timing and a clean final finish.

Clients dealing with photographers, artists and business interiors often need practical answers rather than long explanations. We keep the process direct and measurable: correct file size, suitable finish, sensible mounting and safe delivery. If a file needs adjustment, we say so. If a panel size will not suit the picture, we point that out before production. That kind of care is what helps the finished piece sit properly in the room, whether it is going into a home in Sandton, a gallery wall in Cape Town or a reception area in Pretoria.

Metal print questions

What file quality do you need for an aluminium photo panel?

A high resolution image is best, especially for larger panels or close viewing. We review the file first and let you know if the image needs resizing, cropping or another finish choice to suit the panel.

Can you help choose between gloss, matte, white and brushed finishes?

Yes. The best finish depends on the image, the room lighting and the look you want. Gloss gives stronger shine and contrast, matte cuts glare, white supports full colour work and brushed shows some of the aluminium character.

Do you deliver outside Johannesburg?

Yes. We handle deliveries to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sandton, Midrand, Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha, and we also supply clients in other parts of South Africa by arrangement.
